Anatomy of a Movie: “The Oscar”

Without hesitation, the Webmaster will admit that his favorite “guilty pleasure” is a film called “The Oscar” (1966). The film is usually included on those “it’s so bad it’s good” lists. Although it likely fell considerably short of the producer and director’s expectations, it was made with the most earnest of intentions and had lavished upon it a very respectable budget for its time. Therefore, it serves as a great example of how movies were made and marketed in the mid-1960s (and how intentions and budget cannot guarantee a success).
