AMONG THE CREATORS
PERCY FAITH
Percy Faith, an Academy nominee for his musical score for “Love Me Or Leave Me,” and internationally recognized arranger for recording artists, composed and conducted the music for “The Oscar.” In addition to his own compositions, portions of two Academy Award-winning songs will be heard, “Thanks For The Memory” by Leo Robin and Ralph Rainger, and “All The Way,” by Sammy Cahn and James Van Heusen, plus the Mexican classic, “Carmen Carmelo.”
Faith, just prior to “The Oscar,” completed scores for “I’d Rather Be Rich” and “The Third Day.”
For the noted musician and one of the stars, Tony Bennett, who makes his motion picture debut in “The Oscar,” the film marked a meaningful reunion. Faith was arranger and conductor for three of Bennett’s initial hit records, each of them selling over a million pressings. These were “Because Of You,” “Cold, Cold Heart” and “I’d Rather Be Rich.”
