THE CAST
JILL ST. JOHN
Jill St. John could be described in figures – a 162 I.Q. reveals her mentality, and though the statistics, five-feet six and 35-23-35 are specific, a whistle better describes her figure. In “The Oscar,” both mental and physical are equally important. She plays Laurel Scott, the nightclub entertainer who learns the hard way that she is only a step for Frankie Fane on his way up. In the role, she is seen in a wild Afro-jazz dance and in poignant dramatic scenes with Stephen Boyd and Tony Bennett.
At the age of six, Miss St. John was a veteran actress, able to read her own lines when she joined “One Man’s Family.” By her teens, she was also a veteran of television and motion pictures. Rated one of the most photographed young women in the world, she is described by one photographer as, “so beautiful, it’s overpowering.”
Miss St. John’s film just previous to “The Oscar” was “The Liquidators,” in which she co-stars with Rod Taylor and Trevor Howard.
